How to Add PayPal Buy Now Buttons or PayPal Shopping Cart

 

PayPal 'Buy Now' buttons as well as PayPal Shopping Cart may be added using the HTML snippet.

 

Which PayPal tool should you choose - PayPal 'Buy Now' buttons or PayPal Shopping Cart:

  • PayPal 'Buy now' buttons allow to purchase items one at a time. The buyer clicks the button, s/he is redirected to a secure PayPal page and pays for the item through PayPal. If the buyer needs to buy another item - s/he goes through the same process again, clicking the 'Buy Now' button for the next item s/he would like to buy.

  • PayPal Shopping Cart allows the buyer to add several items to the cart and pay for all with one PayPal payment.

 

The code for both PayPal tools (PayPal 'Buy Now' button and PayPal Shopping Cart) may be generated by any registered PayPal user from http://www.paypal.com.

 

Adding PayPal Buy Now buttons to your website

  1. Generate the button code for each item you sell:

    1. Go to http://www.paypal.com.

    2. If you are not a registered PayPal user sign up for an account.

    3. Once you've logged to your account click 'Merchant Services' tab on top, and then click 'Buy Now Buttons' link.

    4. Enter the item details, then select a button image or choose your own image.

    5. Click 'Customize advanced features (optional) ' button to enter the page users are sent to after the payment is completed and other optional details. Otherwise, click directly 'Create Button Now' button.

    6. PayPal now generated the HTML code you need to place to display a 'Buy Now' button.

  2. Display 'Buy Now' buttons on your website:

    1. Go to the page of your site where your 'Buy Now' button should appear.
    2. Reach for the top menu and choose Add Content > Text and Images. Green rectangles will denote the areas where Text and Images may be added. Select the desired location by clicking on a green rectangle and a popup for adding Text and Images will be displayed. In the Text and Images editor click the HTML snippet icon and a box for entering the HTML Snippet code will show up on the right. Paste here the PayPal button code generated in step 1f.
      If you need to add a PayPal button in an already added Text and Images editor, just roll it over and click the blue  icon displayed on its top left.

    3. Your'Buy Now' button will be visible in Admin View as soon as you submit the Text and Image window. After the page is published users will be able to buy the item by clicking on the 'Buy Now' button you generated.

 

If you are using non-encrypted PayPal buttons, you will have an additional option next to the HTML code box from step 1. This option is named Link for Emails. You can create your PayPal buttons by just inserting the PayPal button image in the Text and Images editor, and linking it as an external URL to the URL displayed in Link for Emails. The result will be the same as if you clicked a PayPal button displayed through the HTML snippet option.
 

Adding PayPal Shopping Cart to your website

  1. Generate the button code for each item you will sell:

    1. Go to http://www.paypal.com

    2. If you are not a registered PayPal user sign up for an account.

    3. Once you've logged to your account click "Merchant Services" tab on top, and click 'Add to Cart' link.

    4. Fill in the details of your item and select an image for your button, specify shipping costs, fees (if applicable) and customize your 'View Cart' button.

    5. After filling in the optional information, click 'Create button' on bottom.

    6. You will now see 1 box with code -  it will display the 'Add to Cart' button of your item

    7. To create a "view cart" button, you will need to click on the "Create a View Cart button " link below the "add to cart button" and then press create button.You will again see 1 box with code - It will display the "view cart" button of your items.

  2. Display 'Add to Cart' and 'View Cart' buttons on your website:

    1. Go to the page of your sitewhere the 'Add to Cart button' for your first item should appear.
    2. Click Add Content from the top menu > Text and Images. The Text and Image editor will open. If you wish to insert the button in an existing Text and Image area, just roll it over and click the blue  icon displayed on its top left. Position the cursor at the desired place for your PayPal button and click the HTML snippet icon. A rectangle denoting the HTML snippet will be inserted in the text.

    3. Click on the HTML snippet rectangle and paste in the text box displayed on the right the 'Add to Cart' HTML code generated by PayPal in step 1.f. Submit the Text and Images window and publish the page. The button will now become visible to your site visitors.

    4. For all other items you need to sell, generatea different HTML 'Add to Cart' button code following steps 1.c through 1.f from above, and add the buttons in the Text and Images editor as explained above.

    5. Finally, decide on which pages you need to havea 'View Cart' button. For each of these pages add the 'View Cart' code generated in step 1.6 fromabove following steps 2.2 and 2.3.

    6. The button for 'View Cart' will be displayed after you publish your page. When clicked- this button will open a secure PayPal page showing the items added by the visitor. Usingthis 'View Cart' page the visitor may checkout and complete the PayPal payment process.Both the buyer and the seller will receive a PayPal notification for the items purchased / payment made.
